Does humour belong in audio marketing? YES! Great vid, hats off to Doyle....
Even when you go for a 30K Speaker and you have knowledge about chassis and their pricing, you will discover, they are rarely more than 160 $/piece.And they sound like that. But they eye is cheated with an excellent high gloss pa...

The arm pictured above is 26" long IIRC. It was made as a joke, as in who's got the longest. It is not a commercial product. I guess the bending modes would be interesting.I believe the Horo turntable is more about aesthetics than about sound....

I don't want to hear where a musician is on stage, I want to hear why he is on stage....

Sorry, didn't mean to be inquisitive....

Hello Rony, have you detailed your set-up somewhere on this site? I'd very much like to know what you're using with Marco's horns....
|
Romy,I have been struggling with your comments here. Which Blumenhofer model are you talking about? Some of the hf horns they use look like 18sound models....
Hello Marc Henry,I am curious as to why you picked the 4540 driver for HF.
The 4540 was used in the prototype described at the beginning of this thread. It is unknown whether the present version of the Grande Castine use...

I have the Colloms book. It does not provide the info Romy seeks. The Toole book is better suited, but I generally think a book dedicated to room acoustics, such as the Everest one cited above, is the better choice.I don't know the Everest book, it s...

Th fabric adds resistance to the tuning, so the tuning of your bottle changes. And if that's the effect you're seeking, I fail to see how the passive radiator will achieve that. You could introduce some resistance in your port, but that would again c...

If the reason for the passive radiator is that you want to stop interaction between Macondo and MiniMe, I fail to see the sense. The passive radiator is a replacement for the port. If the port causes you problems, so will the passive radiator, assumi...
I heard a demonstration of the software ,versus standard itunes in Munich, I thought it a significant improvement, more texture to the sound, more space around individual components, and the auto sample rate sensing is useful.[/qu...

Anyone who argues about the sound of systems under show conditions should really do something better with their time. You get a chance to look at products, and maybe talk to designers. Judging the sound is futile at best, but more likely misleading....

The Windfeld apparently suffers from production inconsistency. I'd avoid it. Ortofon have just released a new cartridge, the A90, which looks promising.I agree about the Decca Reference, I recently heard one in an SME 312 arm and it was very good, no...
Why no amount of watts will compensate for direct-radiation :Start with the obvious : When compared to either multiple direct-radiating drivers or a single horn-loaded driver, to achieve the same SPL, a single direct-radia...

I have recently been thinking about efficiency. Apart from enabling you to use low power amps, is there really any reason why high efficiency is better than low or medium efficiency, all else being equal (and I know perfectly well it never is, but le...
Markus46, you are not alone in getting the idea that much fun is made at others' expense around here. But try reading on for a while and see if some of it perhaps starts to make sense as you expand your context.
I do...

I'd read a fascinating (and widely recommended) article about the importance of absolute speed stability in turntables. http://www.iar-80.com/page12.html
I'd also read Grand Prix Audio's white paper on their turn...

I've never seen a cloth-suspended Görlich driver, either. I can't imagine any existing, except perhaps as a prototype or a one-off special....

Paul,if one wants to learn abpout the effect of a variable, one must keep everything else constant, as I'm sure you're aware.I hear greater differences between connectors than between cables which are reasonably similar electrically. ...

There's no plasma tweeter on the Cessaro. The tweeter is the TAD ET-703. The HK owner has a gold-coloured horn for the tweeter, but there's no plasma driver. I'm pretty sure the horn on the Lansche plasma tweeter is a good bit larger than the horn on...

Hi Romy,in another thread you recommended the JBL LE8 as a good driver for the 200-1,000 Hz region. Any specific version of that driver? It has been produced in different variants over a rather long time....
